Fanfare! Applause! Confetti! Four years after BONGEN’s debut album \u201cHagel Graupel Weltraumschott\u201d (Hail, Graupel, Space Hatch), the follow-up is now here, with the equally unwieldy title \u201cKunst {oder was mit Tieren}\u201d (Art {or something with animals}).
\nThe 13 songs tell of searching, struggling and doubting, of growing pains or \u2013 as it says in \u201cIch werde besser\u201d (I’m getting better) \u2013 of the usual trouble with gravity. But if you’re going to fall flat on your face, then do it with style. And humor. It never ends in resignation. There is always a ray of hope, an idea of how things could be. Musically, \u201cKunst\u201d moves between indie rock and singer\/songwriter. Added to this are elements of folk, country, and blues. The instrumentation is correspondingly diverse: accordion, mandolin, Rhodes piano, home organ, glockenspiel, harp, cajon, cabasa, bongos, shaker, triangle… \u2013 anything goes, as long as it helps the song. <\/p>\n
